Biography

George studied rudiments/technique and Jazz from Howard Gilbert and Bruce Ford, principle percussionists for Seattle Symphony 1959-1970. Attended Stan Kenton Clinics 1962.

In the fall of 1963 George joined the 141st Infantry Division Band and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. Here he met many outstanding musicians who had much influence on his playing career.

After returning to Seattle in 1964 George began playing at the best clubs and dance halls in the area with top Northwest bands and performers including: The Counts,The Dynamics ( who had featured now top jazz guitarist Larry Coryell ),The Feelies ( who had a great local disc version of  "Louie,Louie," Tiny Tony and The Statics and Merrillee Rush who had the first national hit version of  "Angel of the Morning."

George eventually settled in Bellingham, Washington where he and guitarist Kurt Aemmer formed The Cathouse Blues Band whose success and huge crowds led to nominations from The Washington Blues Society for Best Blues Recording and Best Blues Vocalist for 2004. Today George plays and teaches in Las Vegas but flys to Washington state and other parts of the country wherever and whenever a solid drum backbeat in needed!

George has been playing for 45 years, and is VERY committed to his work.
